WWII: Japanese Internment Camps- factual student documentary

On February 19, 1942, soon after the beginning of World War II, Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066. The evacuation order commenced the round-up of 120,000 Americans of Japanese heritage to one of 10 internment camps—officially called "relocation centers"—in California, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, and Arkansas.

World War 2- an Overview

Some 16 million people served in the American military during World War II.

How did the US government repay veterns at the end of the war, and how would these programs affect future veterans?

World War II moblized Americans everywhere, whether they left to fight in Europe and the Pacific or worked at home to support the war effort. When World War II ended, soldiers returned to a bleak employment situation: There were no longer enough jobs. The government addressed this problem by enacting the GI bill, legislation that still exists today to express the nation's gratitude to our men and women in service.

As you watch this video (DVD in classroom), identify the main ideas presented.
Please remember at least two supporting details for each main idea you list in your notes.

How dies the GI Bill benefit both members of the military individually and the country as a whole?

Soliders can take advantage of free higher education. Number of skilled                                        educated employees in American workforce increases.
