Welcome to Social Studies

Welcome to the most exciting 90 days of your life. We will be covering the topics from the middle ages to our current global situation. I hope you are ready to learn about the world. There are some things you should be aware of when entering into Ms. Nana’s classrooms. They are:

• Classroom websites with information available of our classroom lessons. The website is www.baravesocialstudies7.blogspot.com

• Notebook – can be used on tests to obtain no higher than a B+. Must be brought to class every day. Just a 70 page spiral bound notebook is fine. If you are not able to provide your student with a notebook, let me know.

• Current events – each student is required to do four mini presentations on a newspaper article that they find interesting. There is an associated “fun sheet” that is required to be filled out; each current event is worth 100 points. There are three current even slots per day. Students have to come in during power up to sign their name up on the board to present. Some sensitive topics might be brought up like murder, drug abuse, child abuse, war, politics, etc. Just be aware that we will be discussing the world around us.

• Presentations – students will be required to work in highly cooperative groups and use their time wisely during creative time. There will be at least four presentations due.

• Redo assignments – all assignment can be re-done for a maximum of points for a B. So don’t quit if you get a bad grade.

If you have any questions you can e-mail me or call me at Spring Creek.
